There has been a lot of interest lately in running a training session aimed at Piranha parents (or relations to players like guardians, aunties etc). Many we have learned have played basketball in the past, or simply want a way to get fit without hitting the gym equipment.
The idea we have is to run a session, once a week, at a local leisure centre/school that has basketball facilities. 1hr approx drills and cardio, with a basketball scrimmage style at the end. The ethos is to have fun while getting fit so parents don’t need to be Michael Jordans to be in this – just a willingness to train pretty hard, sweat a bit and all have a fun game at the end.
Further to an ‘Expression of Interest’ form we ran early October, we had 27 responses which is great. It looks like the general consensus is a 1.5hr session, on a Monday or a Wednesday, £5 for the session, starting ASAP. I will try to find a suitable venue in the coming days so we can look to start this venture early November for a 6 week trial until just before Xmas.
More details soon.
